• Dr. T.T. Mane being the Member of Board of Studies in Botany, participated in revision of F.Y/S.Y/ and T.Y.B.Sc Botany syllabus of Pune university. He also participated in revision of M.Sc.Botany syllabus of Pune University.
• Dr. B.N.Zawre appointed as Principal in Arts, Com and Science College Pirangut, Tal Mulshi of Poona District Education Association.
• Dr. C.P.Hase published research paper entitled “Impact of soil sickness and post harvest residues on sugarcane metabolism and yield in prolonged cultivation “ in the AlleolopathyJournal 23(2):255-268(2009). Research paper of Dr. C.P.Hase entitled “Influence of sugarcane monocropping on rhizosphere microflora, Soil enzymes and NPK status.” is accepted for publication in International Journal Archives of Agronomy and Soil Science.
• Dr.T.T.Mane and Dr. Smt C.P.Hase worked as resource person in preparation of S.Y.B.Sc (revised syllabus) practical question paper in the workshop held at Arts, Com, & Science and Computer Science College Pirangut,Tal, Mulshi Dist. Pune on 23 rd Jan 2010.
• Dr. T.T.Mane ,Dr.B.N.Zaware, Dr.C.P.Hase, Prof. B.M.Shinde and Prof. S.D.Shinde attended workshop on “Reorientation of teachers for teaching revised syllabus in Botany “held at Department of Botany, University of Pune on 21 st march 2009.
• Dr.C.P.Hase attend seminar on “Restructuring of S.Y.B.Sc syllabus” held at Nowrosji Wadia College Pune on 24 th Jan 2009. She also attended state level seminar on “Recent trends in conservation, utilization and applications of medicinal plants held at Kisan Veer Mahavidyalaya,Wai on 25 th and 26 th March 2009 at Mahableshwar.
• Dr. T.T.Mane and Dr.B.N.Zaware worked on various committees of Pune University as V.C.Nominee, subject experts and L.I.C member.
• Botanical Excursions organized by Botany Department .
  • Dr. B.N.Zaware and shri. V.T.sakhare organized botanical excursion for T.Y.B.Sc. Botany student at Malshej Ghat on 18 th sept.2009.
  • Dr.T.T.Mane, Dr.(smt)C.P.Hase , Prof.S.D.Shinde and Shri V.T.Sakhare organized Botanical excursion at Dive Agar and Harihareshwar of S.Y.B.Sc. and T.Y.B.Sc. Students on 15 th and 16 th Jan 2010.
  • The botanical excursion of S.Y and T.Y. B.Sc Botany was organized at Dive Aagar,Harihareshwar and Mahabaleshwar on 15 th,16 thand 17 th Jan,2009. The following staff members were participated: 1) Dr. B.N.Zaware, 2)Dr.C.P.Hase, 3)Prof. B.M.Shinde 4)shri.V.T.Sakhare
  • The Department also organized botanical excursion of F.Y.B.Sc Botany student on 7 th Feb, 2009 at Bhimashankar . Dr.T .T.Mane, Dr.C.P.Hase, Prof S.D.Shinde and Shri.V.T.Sakhare were participated in excursion.
• Under the guidance of all staff members of Botany department the students of T.Y.B.Sc participated in Botanica on Jan 2009 held at Nowrosji Wadia College Pune.
• Dr.C.P.Hase visited to Agriculture College Pune with T.Y.B.Sc. Botany students for study of Mushroom Cultivation Project and Plant Breeding Station on March 2010.
• Prof. B.M. Shinde and Prof. S.D.Shinde visited to Agriculture College Pune with T.Y.B.Sc. Botany students for study of Mushroom Cultivation Project and Plant Breeding station on 12 th feb.2009.
• All staff Members of Botany Department organized “Tree Plantation Programme” in College Campus on 22 nd July 2010.
• The Department of Botany has organized One day Excursion at University of Pune on 4 th Sept 2010 for Study of Fungi Diversity.
• The Department of Botany has organized Exhibition on “Fungal Diversity: The Beauty of Nature” on 8 th Sept 2010, for Students and Staff Members of College. About 40 Staff Members and 200 Students visited to the exhibition.

A State Level Workshop on CHEMINFORMATICS was arranged on 10 th – 12 th January 2008 in collaboration with Department of Chemistry, University of Pune.

Departmental activity:

• Started M. Sc. Organic Chemistry course in the department.

• Upgraded well equipped research laboratory with all facilities of equipments, instruments, chemicals and apparatus, computers with latest configuration.
• A Departmental library with reference books, text books and journals.
• A highly qualified teaching staff with research attitude.
• Linkages developed with National / International, academic / Research bodies such as University of Pune, National chemical Laboratory, C-MET and V.S.I., Manjari.
• International linkage developed with Nagoya University, Japan and T.C.I. Institute, Germany
• Arrangement of Guest lectures by renowned personalities from various institutes for UG and PG students.
• Institution allows the students and staff members to participate in various lecture competitions, seminars and workshops etc on various levels.
• Students actively participate in the various projects conducted by department.
• Students studying in F.Y.B.Sc. are encouraged to participate in the ‘Chemiad’ exam, conducted by University of Pune, which is based on the basic knowledge of chemistry.
• B.Sc. and M.Sc. students are given lot of Home assignments, Tutorials and seminars to become well acquainted with the subject.
• Poor and needy students are allowed to work in Chemistry laboratory under the ‘Earn and learn’ scheme.
• Parents and teachers discuss together for solving problems of students.

HISTORY OF THE DEPARTMENT

Pimpri-Chinchwad and Pune is the industrial belt. Many national and multinational companies are located in this area. Many of these companies require B.Sc. and M. Sc. Chemistry qualified staff in their quality assurance and production departments. Due to increasing demand from the student community and as many new pharmaceutical companies are settling their production or research units at Hinjawadi, (which is nearer to the college), Taking into account this fact, P. D. E. A. authorities have decided to start the post – graduate course in Chemistry in this college from academic year 2008-09.
