Commerce faculty has been consistently showing an increasing trend since last three decade. Naturally in the today’s world, it is the most demanding faculty as compared to the other faculties. Naturally the Commerce Department has been running various activities listed as below-

• To organize the extra lectures in core subjects such as Accountancy, Cost Accounting, Mathematics etc.
• To organize the guest speeches of the outside expert in various subjects.
• To organize the Seminars for the guidance of career opportunities by the external educational institutions.
• To invite the companies from Pimpri Chinchwad [MIDC] Industrial Area,Hinjawadi Infotech Park, & other local areas for campus interviews.
• To establish linkage between Commerce education & industries, organize industrial visit, especially in those subjects in which the practicals are compulsory such as Cost & Works Accounting, Marketing Management, Auditing & Taxation etc.
• The faculty members are motivated for participating & presenting the research papers at the National Level, State Level & University Level seminars /workshops/conferences.
• The University of Pune has promoted a new research activity- Avishkar recently.This activity basically aims to develop the research attitude among the students as well as teachers. The Commerce Department has been taking very sincere efforts to encourage the students & teachers to participate in such an activity.
• A “Soft Skills Development Programme” is run by the college for the personality development of the students. The Commerce Department forms a group of T.Y.B.Com. Students to participate in this programme.
• The students were encourage for participating in NSS, Annual Sports, various competitions organized by various colleges.
• At the M.Com final level there is a compulsory Research Methodology & Project Work. To prepare such type of project reports, to conduct the survey for collection of primary data, the necessary help is provided to the students by the faculty members.
• The Commerce Department has been organizing, in association with Computer Science Department , A Computer Training Programme for the F.Y.B.Com students to provide them the basic knowledge, since last five years.
• The Commerce Department conducted a one day orientation programme for the preparation of design of the Identity cards.
• “Indian Express Newspaper” was distributed among the students subscribers for the year 2007-08 at the concessional rate @Re.1/only.
• The Commerce students are given an assignment for the projects on different subjects.
• At the time of NSS special winter camp the Commerce Department had conducted a socio-economic survey of Chalegaon, Taluka - Mulshi, Dist-Pune, in the academic year 2009-10.
• The Diagnostic tests of the Commerce students were conducted in the academic year 2009-10 & 2010-11.

Seminar Organized by the Department:

A National Level Seminar was conducted on 18 th ,19 th & 20 th Feb 2010 on the topic “Global Crisis & Indian Economy”. This seminar was sponsored by BCUD,University of Pune.

Proposal for minor research project was submitted to the UGC on 5/11/2009 on the topic “Shopping Malls & Their Impact on Traditional Sole Trading Concerns with special reference to Pune city”, by the faculty member Prof.S.M.Sontakke.
