About the Department :-

With the establishment of the college on 17 June 1989 the department got established. Though the department of geography is independent and well equipped with maps. Till on date geography is taught at a general subject (no specialization). With qualified staff the department tries to cater every requirement of the student in the field of geography. The department conduct various competitions e.g. Debating competition, Seminar presentation, Quiz competition, Essay writing etc. The department also conduct a study tour, excursion and field survey. We tries to provide students with latest updates in the field of Geography.

History of the Commerce Department.

This faculty was established along with the establishment of this college in the year 1989.

It is started with F.Y.B.Com class having the initial enrollment of 93 students. New Sangavi is a Fast developing suburb in the Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation. As Pimpri is the chief industrial Belt, there was a necessity of Commerce Courses. The college is located centrally. The feeding area is Sangavi, Wakad, Pimple-Nilakh, Balewadi, Aundh etc.

The faculty has shown a tremendous growth right from its inception. The first batch of

B.Com passed out in 1992. The performance of the students has been passed out and more than

700 students have completed their graduation from this college.

• B.C.A. and M.C.A. students are given lot of Home assignments, Tutorials and Seminars to become well acquainted with the subject.
• Poor and needy students are allowed to work in Library under the ‘Earn and learn’ scheme.
• Parents and teachers discuss together for solving problems of students.

The computer science department runs University affiliated courses of B.Sc.(Computer Science), M.Sc. (Computer Science) and MCA under science. The four departments, which conduct these courses, are Computer Science, Electronics, Mathematics and Statistics.

All these departments are taking efforts in achieving academic excellence. The efforts gave fruits in the form of distinction holders in B.Sc.(Computer Science). The results of M.Sc. (Computer Science) & MCA are also outstanding. This also had positive effects on the admission of current year. 110 students have been admitted in F.Y.B.Sc.(Computer Science) class and many students had to be refused admission. Also, number of students have been admitted to full capacity in post graduate classes.

• Use of biofertilizer in agriculture

HISTORY OF THE DEPARTMENT

Pimpri-Chinchwad and Pune is the industrial belt. Many national and multinational companies are located in this area. Many of these companies require B.Sc. and M. Sc. Chemistry qualified staff in their quality assurance and production departments. Due to increasing demand from the student community and as many new pharmaceutical companies are settling their production or research units at Hinjawadi, (which is nearer to the college), Taking into account this fact, P. D. E. A. authorities have decided to start the post – graduate course in Chemistry in this college from academic year 2008-09.
